We know that times are difficult for everyone right now. Here at Cornerstone we have seen a rapid rise in people unable to make ends meet. As their needs rise, so does the cost for Cornerstone to meet those needs.
Wintertime means families have added costs for heating and cooking hot meals. We get a lot of our food items at little to no cost but we have to go and get almost all of or donated food so your gift means our vans can go and get food when it becomes available. In turn, that food goes into meals at the soup kitchen or bags of groceries at the Food Cupboard.
All three of our shelters are full every night and many times we have to turn people away. The costs to operate the shelters and provide needed services to move people on the path to housing has also risen.
Our community has been very generous even as our supporters feel the pinch themselves. We know that our mission is important to so many of you and your donations have made it possible for us to help as many people as we can.
